  • Next it’s my park day is March 1st.
  • Cocoa and Carols made 20-40 dollars and we sung one carol.

Contact team

Anderson Square Rezoning Case

  • Waiting on Restrictive Covenant draft from owners of Anderson Square
  • Communicating with Austin Parks Foundation about donation from Anderson Square for Wooten Park.

Polaris Case

  • The contact team meet to discuss what our asks should be. The asks include Redline Parkway connections, public amenity space, strategies to improve biking and pedestrian environment around and reduce car traffic and a donation to the Neighborhood Association.

Emery from Animal Protection speaks about wildlife.

She was unable to present her slide deck, but she sent it out afterwards and can be downloaded here.  

Coyotes

  • She really wants coyote reports. (Contact info in PDF linked above)
    • Lots of Coyote activity down the road in Hancock.
      • Territory size is 0.25-40 miles
    • Will follow people and dogs if you are near their den.
    • Mating season is winter, so sightings are less now.
    • October is one of the highest coyote sighting months.

Birds

  • Avian flu likely caused by used dog bowls that where not being cleaned at the arboretum pond
  • Don’t interact with ducks there, particularly if they are mucusy/crusty eyes or if they are shaky, wobbly, twitching, etc.
  • If you have bird feeders and baths, they should be cleaned to avoid spreading the flu.

Other Critters

  • They do not deal with rats.
  • They do not remove healthy wildlife and will not service private traps.
  • Porcupines, leave them alone. Can have bad mange.
  • Animals are being pushed into neighborhoods from creeks

The Wooten Neighborhood Association is updating the signers on all of the organizations Accounts at Austin Telco Federal Credit Union, the 00 -Primary Savings Account, the 80 Primary Checking Account, and the 81 WFA Park Fund,

The Wooten Neighborhood Association is removing former members Laura Lomas Tomlinson and Karen Joanne Garret to Wooten Neighborhood Association banking accounts at Austin Telco Federal Credit Union: the 00 -Primary Savings Account, the 80 Primary Checking Account, and the 81 WFA Park Fund. They no longer are authorized to sign checks or spend money on behalf of the organization

The Wooten Neighborhood Association is adding President Sandra Menjivar-Suddeath and Treasurer, Philip Simmons, to Wooten Neighborhood Association banking accounts at Austin Telco Federal Credit Union: the 00 -Primary Savings Account, the 80 Primary Checking Account, and the 81 WFA Park Fund. They shall be given the authority to sign checks and spend money on behalf of the organization.

Website and Communication

  • Betsy has been hosting the WootenNA website for free.
  • She also has time to support working on the website.
  • Sandra said we could do a year end newsletter if there were volunteers to deliver it.
    • Our old print shop went out of business. Would need to find new one or pay for printing

Burnet Road Middle School

  • Will Demolish the school in Q3. Building new building in separate part of their property
  • February 5th is a historic preservation commission on the school
  • Neighborhood Residents have raised concerns over rats and asbestos.  
  • Suggested reaching out to School Board.
    • We are district 3
    • Ryan knows the new Borad rep, Fernando and will try to connect.

Holiday Recap

  • Cocoa and carols, meet some new neighbors
  • Holiday Wootenanny was a hit
    • Delivered gift cards for Holiday Lighting winners
    • Make it Rosie came out and had ornament making activities set up

New Business

  • QR Code on neighborhood meeting signs.
  • Sign person on Wooten/Mullen is retiring. Need someone to take over. Betsy Suggested asking Josh who lives near that corner.
